Whether you are learning how to drive a bike or a car, there are a lot of things that you need to keep in mind if you want to become a skilled driver. Most of these rules are just basic rules; however, we often end up ignoring the most basic rules itself.

If you are a new driver, then we suggest you go through this article in detail where we have explained seven vital aspects of driving that you should be aware of before you get yourself comfortable in the driver’s seat.

Know your Vehicle

The first and foremost point is for you to know your vehicle fundamental functionalities. Whether it is a bike or a car, you need to know its various parts such as where the accelerator, brakes, clutch and gear are, how to turn on/off the vehicle, lights, indicators, opening & closing fuel tank, how to adjust the seat, etc.

Documents

Without the proper vehicle documents, you could easily get into trouble with the traffic police and would have to pay fines unnecessarily. Keep the vehicle’s registration card, existing insurance papers, pollution certificate and your driving license handy with you whenever you are off on a drive.

Road and Traffic Rules

Ignorance is no excuse, It is not just enough to learn how to drive. You need to know about all the road and traffic rules so that neither do you cause any injury to other drivers nor get hurt by them plus nor end up paying fines due to violation of traffic rules Avoiding overtaking from the left, using indicators, following traffic signals, seat belts, etc., are some of the ground rules to follow.

Vehicle Maintenance

Along with learning how to drive, you should also know how to check essential parts of your vehicle and ensure that everything is in proper condition. Fuel capacity and tire air pressure and tire condition are  most important aspects that you must check on a regular basis.

Make Way for Others

Since you are still a newbie, you need to make sure that you are giving way to others rather than hogging the whole road to yourself. Try to keep on the left side of the road so that faster moving vehicles can take the right lane and be on their way.

Safety Precautions

You need to educate yourself on various safety measures required while driving such as using the seat belt/helmet without fail, using parking lights, using low beam rather than the high beam, avoiding sudden brakes, over-speeding, etc.

Avoid Distractions

Last but not the least, stay away from distractions so that you can focus all your attention on driving. Distractions such as talking on the phone while driving, listening to music on high volume, eating, etc., should be avoided. On losing the concentration, your chances of running into another vehicle increases.

So, now that you are aware of these seven vital aspects of driving, we hope you master this skill efficiently and remain safe.
