E-Auction of Fancy Registration Numbers

• Once you register as a public user on the Ministry of Road Transport and Highways official website, you get the Unique Acknowledgement Number (UAN).
• Pay the registration fee (non-refundable) and the reserve price (refundable) of the fancy number.
• Block the ideal fancy vehicle number. 
• The registration window is open for three days from the start of the auction. You can complete the bid within the next two days.
• You can increase the bid amount by multiples of Rs. 10,000. For example, the earlier price of the bid was Rs. 2 Lakh, the next bidding price will be Rs. 2.1 Lakh, Rs. 2.2 Lakh, and so on.
• Upon a successful bid, you get the information via email and SMS on your registered contact details.
• Deposit the bidding amount online within 5 days and claim the bid. If you fail to do so, it is considered that you have surrendered the fancy vehicle number. 
• After the successful payment, an allotment letter is issued to you, valid for the next 90 days after receiving it. 
• Within the time period, acquire a physical number plate or else the ownership of the number will be cancelled if you miss the deadline.  

Processing Time to Get Fancy Vehicle Number

After you have blocked the fancy registration number and paid the required amount, the registration process usually takes 3 days to complete. Later on, the next two days are allotted for bidding. Hence, it requires 5 days from the day of registration to complete the bidding process. Once you receive the allotment letter, you have 90 days to start the registration process at the concerned RTO and get a physical number plate.
