The Motor Vehicle Act is a central act that is applicable throughout India. RTO Jharkhand implements the rules and laws in the Motor Vehicles Act. Why do you need to register your vehicle in Jharkhand

Temporary registration in Jharkhand

According to the provision provided under section 43 of the Central Motor Vehicle Act, a temporary registration certificate can be provided only if the vehicle owner wants to take his vehicle to another state or before getting a permanent registration certificate. The maximum validity period of temporary registration is one month, and can be renewed. The vehicle temporary registration is also known as transit registration, as the destination point or where the vehicle must reach is also mentioned. Process of Vehicle Registration in Jharkhand

Process of Registration of vehicles brought from outside Jharkhand

When an owner of a registered vehicle brings the vehicle from another state in Jharkhand, then re-registration of the vehicle so brought is required after obtaining a No-Objection Certificate from the concerned RTO office in which the vehicle was registered. The re-registration process can be initiated through the concerned RTO by filing an application form for the same and submitting it along with the prescribed below-stated documents:

The process for obtaining a No-Objection Certificate

If a registered vehicle owner wants to take the vehicle to some other state and get the vehicle re-registered in that state. Then, they will have to apply for a No-Objection Certificate through an application form-28 for the same. To obtain a no-objection certificate for registering a vehicle in Jharkhand, the applicant must approach the RTO office nearest their residential area and follow the following steps.

  • Visit the RTO nearest your residential area
  • Duly fill and submit application form number 28. Application forms can be downloaded from the official website of Jharkhand's transport department or obtained from the appropriate RTO office.

Process to Transfer Ownership of a Vehicle in Jharkhand

Transfer of vehicle ownership is necessary only if you have purchased a second-hand vehicle or the registered owner of the vehicle has suffered from an unfortunate death, which results in the transfer of the vehicle to a legal heir. Both of the transfer of ownership is required to be registered. If the new owner fails to file the transfer application within 14 days of purchasing the vehicle, a penalty will apply.
