Under the provision of the Road transport act of 1950, Uttar Pradesh State Road Transport Corporation (UPSRTC) was established on the 1st of June in 1972. The department deals in providing services to passengers and provide necessary documents to the vehicle owners. The transport department headed by the transport commissioner IAS Dheeraj Sahu grants certificates and permits to commercial and non-commercial vehicles. The department looks after the smooth transportation and convenient road travel for passengers. It is equipped with 115 bud depot and 301 bus stations.

Functions performed by Regional Transport Offices in Uttar Pradesh

Just like Regional transport offices of other states, RTOs in Uttar Pradesh also have the same primary functions. The department looks after all the major aspects related to transportation. Issuance of license, granting certificates and permits, collection of taxes, conducting taxes, and maintaining road and passenger safety are the primary function of RTOs in Uttar Pradesh.

The department also provides online services for the convenience of users through which they can fill up the required details along with the form. After updating the supporting documents and photographs, RTO verifies the details and issue the desired document.

Various Charges of Regional Transport Office UTTAR PRADESH

Uttar Pradesh State Road Transport Corporation (UPSRTC) charges certain fees for all the services it provides.

Charges for issuance of the license

  • Learning license costs Rs. 150
  • Conducting online tests or repeat tests for learner’s license costs Rs. 50
  • Driving license costs Rs. 200
  • To issue an international driving permit, it costs Rs. 1000
  • To add another class of vehicle in your driving license, you have to pay Rs. 500
  • Renewal of authorization for vehicles carrying goods costs Rs. 100
  • Renewing a driving license before the expiry date costs Rs. 200
  • Renewing driving license after grace period costs Rs. 300
  • Issuance of license to a driving school costs Rs. 10000
  • Issuance of duplicate license to a driving school costs Rs. 5000
  • Change in the address in license costs Rs. 200

Why do you need to register your vehicle in Uttar Pradesh?

The registration certificate is the most important document if a person owns any vehicle. The registration process includes the submission of the supporting documents along with the prescribed fees mentioned above. The process also includes a physical inspection. After verifying all the documents the RTO issues the registration certificate that remains valid for 15 years.

Process of Vehicle Registration in Uttar Pradesh

Listed below are the documents needed to issue a registration certificate

 

  • Duly filled Form-20,21,22
  • Roadworthiness certificate
  • Pollution Under Control (PUC)
  • Form-60/61 from the Income Tax Department/Pan card
  • Vehicle Insurance Certificate
  • Attested address proof (Ration Card/Voter ID Card/Aadhar card)
  • Temporary registration certificate (if any)

Process to get a duplicate registration certificate

The registration certificate may get lost, damaged or stolen due to any reason. RTOs provides a duplicate registration certificate in such cases. All you need to do is to submit the required documents along with the fees.

  • Attested copy of FIR
  • An affidavit stating the loss of original RC
  • Form-26
  • Vehicle Insurance Certificate
  • No Objection Certificate (NOC)
  • Pollution Under Control (PUC) Certificate

Change of Address In-Vehicle Registration Certificate (RC)

In case of a change in address, one must update the change in license and RC as early as possible. You can apply for the address update online by filling up Form 33 and uploading the supporting documents.

  • No Objection Certificate (NOC)

Process to the transfer of Vehicle Ownership

There are chances that you decide to sell off your vehicle or buy a second-hand vehicle. In both cases, it is important to transfer vehicle ownership and do the required paper-work. With online services available at UPSRTC, you can easily upload all the supporting documents and request for the transfer of ownership. Following are the required documents:

  • Form 29: Intimation of vehicle transfer
  • duly filled Form-30
  • Vehicle Registration Certificate (RC)
  • Vehicle Insurance Document
  • Attested copy of address proof
  • Affidavit attested by government official
  • No Objection Certificate (NOC) from the Financier if the vehicle has been obtained on back
  • Road tax copy

In the case of any mishappening leading to the death of the owner, one needs to submit some additional documents- Death certificate and Proof of succession along with the documents listed above.
