Types of Vehicle Registration in Arunachal Pradesh

As per the Motor Vehicle Act 1988, if you buy a new vehicle or want to transfer a vehicle to another state, it is mandatory to register a vehicle at Arunachal Pradesh RTO. 

A vehicle owner can register his/her asset in two ways

  • Temporary Registration: According to the Motor Vehicle Act of 1989, a vehicle can be registered temporarily for a limited period of 20 days. This allows a vehicle owner to drive their vehicle during the initial days of purchase, during which they can start with another documentation process.

Transfer of Ownership at Arunachal Pradesh RTO

One can apply for transfer of ownership in the following scenarios in AR RTO

  • In the case of the vehicle owner's death, the successor can apply for ownership transfer within 3 months of the death. 
  • If you want to sell your vehicle or want to purchase the vehicle, you need to apply for an ownership transfer process to the authorities at AR RTO.
  • If the vehicle is purchased from an auction, the transfer of ownership is processed within 30 days. 

Process of Transfer of Ownership at Arunachal Pradesh RTO

The following steps must be followed to transfer vehicle ownership in Arunachal Pradesh RTO.

  • Fill out Form 29 and Form 30 for the intimation of transfer, Form 28 (if the vehicle is for sale), Form 31 (in the instance of the death of the owner), or Form 32 (if it is an auction

The registration certificate of a vehicle is valid for 15 years from the date of issue. You need to renew the registration certificate within 60 days from the expiry.
