The Transport Department in Punjab works under the various provisions of prescribed section 213 of the Motor Vehicles Act, 1988. How to know your Regional Transport Office?
All the road vehicles have a license number in India which the concerned RTO has registered. The district-level RTO of the respective state or union territory issues the registration number plate. According to the new Indian Vehicle Number Plate design, the initial two characters of the registration number plate are designated to the State in which it is registered. The Regional Transport Office in Punjab functions as per the provisions and rules of the Motor Vehicles Act, 1988, which states that it is mandatory for any individual owning a vehicle to register their vehicle with the concerned Regional Transport Office in Punjab.
